Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn on the Galaxy S II
FOLKS ARE SHIFTING THE way they communicate with one another electronically, using social networking sites more, and using email less. If you’re a fan of social networking services such as Facebook and Twitter, you’ll be pleased to know that the Galaxy S II lets you use Facebook without having to visit the Web—just use the Galaxy S II’s built-in social networking apps and widgets.
Setting Up Your Accounts
To set up your Facebook account, from the Home screen or a pane, press the Menu key and tap Settings→Accounts and Sync→“Add Account,” and then tap Facebook. Enter your Facebook user name and password, and you connect to your account. You also have the choice of choosing various settings, such as whether to sync Facebook contacts with your Galaxy S II’s contacts, whether to sync messages, and whether to sync your Calendar. Setting up a Twitter and LinkedIn account works exactly the same way, except you choose Twitter from the “Add account” menu.
Note
When you set up a Facebook or Twitter account, your Contacts list will check Facebook and Twitter to see if they have pictures for any of your contacts. If so, it displays those friends’ Facebook pictures in your Contacts.
Once you’ve set up your accounts, your contacts from those social networking sites will be integrated into your Samsung contacts (if you chose to sync them).
