It was a tremendous loss for the nonlinear optics community when Peter Powers passed away in June 2014. He was planning a second edition of this book to include corrections and add new material where needed. Taking on the task of writing this second edition was an awesome task, since in my view it was already the best book on the market for introducing students and researchers to the practical aspects of nonlinear optics. In this revision, it has been my intention to stay true to his vision of this book.
