The details are as follows:

The horizontal side of a square box is marked with six points equidistant from each other, labeled t through t + 5.

The vertical side is divided into four equal bands with the separator lines drawn between them labeled as, from the top to the bottom, acceptable upper limit, standard, and acceptable lower limit.

The height of the middle two bands together is labeled as acceptable range of variation.

Within this range six points are connected by straight lines.

The coordinates of the points are as follows:

  • T: one-third height above acceptable lower limit

  • T + 1: midway between standard and acceptable upper limit

  • T + 2: just above standard

  • T + 3: one-third height below standard

  • T + 4: just above acceptable lower ...
