Installing Packages
Now, you need to go out and find some software to install. The first step is to find out what’s available. Just about all the software available for Linux is also available for FreeBSD—nearly every piece of open-source software in the world has been made into a native FreeBSD port, and even closed-source software distributed in binary form for Linux can be installed as well (because binary compatibility allows you to do anything up to and including playing back audio/video using Linux software).
