CHAPTER 8 Character Animation
Bringing characters to life in Adobe Flash and After Effects can be quite time-consuming. Both applications offer a couple of creative tools that can help reduce production time when animating 2D characters. This chapter explores character animation using Flash and After Effects.
Working with Bones in Flash
The art of character animation requires a lot of patience and practice. Flash provides many great tools for designing 2D characters. Using keyframes or ActionScript, these characters become virtual puppets that can walk, run, and jump. Flash CS4 introduced the Bone Tool that links each individual limb, such as a hand to an arm or a foot to a leg, and greatly enhanced the workflow.
