Researching in harm’s way

Ethics committees cannot predict all the types of harms that occur in the field, and neither can the researcher at the time the research is designed. As was discussed in Chapter 4, there are known-knowns of research that are addressed in the ethical design of a project and its plan. There are known-unknowns, things that because of the nature of a project may occur, and while a researcher might not know exactly what they will look like, is prepared for; that is, they know what they might do if something of a particular type were to occur.
