Born in 1919 outside of Naples, Italy, the son of a pasta maker, Agostino “Dino” De Laurentiis rose to become one of the most prolific and innovative international producers of his time. With a career spanning 70 years, he made more than 150 films, won two Oscars, and was an early pioneer of financing films by pre-selling them territory by territory.
As a teen, De Laurentiis left home to study acting in Rome. He quickly became fascinated by what was going on behind the camera and turned his focus to producing.
