Some years ago, I appeared in a production of Edward Albee’s play, The Zoo Story (1993), performing the role of Jerry. I found this show and part to be particularly challenging, and looking back I was not completely satisfied with the outcome. Given that difficulty, I decided the experience would be a good one to draw on for retrospectively applying this structural metaphor technique and exploring how it might have provided deeper and more profound insight into character traits and motivation.
