The Philadelphia Story: Huge Potential, Missed Chances
After more than a decade of effort, Philadelphia’s Friends of the Rail Park (RPP) has made little progress toward repurposing the three-mile remnant passenger and freight train track known as the Rail Park into a public urban green space. While city government officials have indicated their support for the project, the city currently owns only 2.4 miles of the proposed three-mile space, with the rest remaining under private ownership by the entertainment company Reading International.
