Attack Identification and Prevention in Networked Systems
Abstract
An essential requirement for a large-scale networked system to work properly is its safety. In this chapter, we investigate some preliminary issues in prevention and estimation of malicious and organized inputs to a networked system, which include detectability and identifiability of attacks, appropriate sensor distributions, and so on. We establish connections with system observability and with system transmission zeros. It has been made clear that accurate system model is quite important in both risk managements and attack building. We also discuss some recent quantitative methods developed for analyzing risks of a networked system.
