APPENDIX K: BEHAVIOUR-BASED SAFETY

BBS is an approach to safety that focuses on workers' behaviour as an important cause of most work-related injuries and illnesses.

In the context of OH&S, we often refer to three types of behaviours:

Unsafe behaviour: These are dangerous acts that often result in injuries and can be identified with common sense and experience. When actions are highly likely to result in a negative outcome (i.e. injury), we view these as unsafe behaviours.
