The dramaturg should be versed in theatre history, the theatre of her day, performance theory, criticism, culture, and politics. And, plays, she should read a lot of plays. It is not possible to compile a comprehensive list of resources for the dramaturg; it is work that is an ongoing process of discovery and connection.

Consequently, the following list is a starting point for the practice of dramaturgy of performance and text.
