Managing Incivility in Virtual Environments

Now that we have reviewed civility and its history and the growth of technology and how incivility permeated that platform, we must address the elephant in the room: If we know incivility exists in the virtual environment, how do we deal with it and its effects on employees, trainees, students, and the people with whom they interact.

The Civility in America 2011 poll of 1,000 adults conducted by Weber Shandwick and Powell Tate, in partnership with KRC Research, revealed that 67 percent of those responding saw a critical need for civility training in the workplace. They believed this was the first step toward managing incivility and restoring respect at work.
