Overview. In Chapter 5 we used conversion to design a number of isothermal reactors for single reactions. While in many situations writing the mole balances in terms of conversion is an extremely effective strategy, there are many instances where it is more convenient, and in some cases absolutely necessary, to write the mole balance in terms of moles (N_A, N_B) or molar flow rates (F_A, F_B), as shown in Table S1-1 in Chapter 1.
