Introduction
After the brief discussion of the political economy of climate change in the previous chapter, we explore the international political economy of sustainability here. As sustainability cuts across national boundaries, arriving at any agreement on sustainability at a global level involves a deep understanding of entrenched power relations at all levels, ranging from interactions among nation states, to concerns about local and regional development and down to the micro scale of communities and households.
