Camcorder Care
The DVCAM camcorders do not require lubrication. You should not use grease anywhere. Try to keep them out of dusty, moist or salt air as much as possible. Use rain covers, plastic bags or garbage bags in these “hostile” environments.
Around salt water and humid areas, wipe the external surfaces of the camcorder with CRC 5-56 or LPS 1 (not LPS 3). These rust-inhibiting formulations are not greasy or slippery (WD-40 is). Use a cotton rag on large surfaces. Use a foam swab, Kimwipe or lens tissue for screw heads and hard-to-get places. Use a small amount—a little goes a long way. Apply to the rag first.
