ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
This book owes its existence to my friends and colleagues, Andy Budd (www.andybudd.com) and Richard Rutter (www.clagnut.com). Andy runs a (free) training event in our home town of Brighton called Skillswap (www.skillswap.org). In July 2004, Richard and I gave a joint presentation on JavaScript and the Document Object Model. Afterward, we adjourned to the cozy confines of a nearby pub, where Andy put the idea in my head of expanding the talk into a book.
I took this idea and presented it to Chris Mills at friends of ED. Chris was gracious enough to give me the green light, despite the fact that I had never written a book before. Everyone at friends of ED has been helpful and encouraging. I'd particularly like to thank my project ...
