Entry Mode and Location Choices in China

The success of an international venture is influenced by the choice of entry mode; different entry modes offer different advantages and disadvantages. Each mode also requires different resources and time commitments and entails different risks. Factors such as culture, the political and business environments, and the skills of the manager in internationalizing all have a bearing on the correct entry mode choice. This chapter discusses the various entry modes the research participants choose when internationalizing to China and describes some of the issues they experienced with those entry modes.
