Preface
1. Throughout this book, I use the terms “information technology” and “IT,” as they are the terms most widely used in the United States. In other areas of the world, the somewhat more precise terms “information and communications technology” and “ICT” have come into favor. As commonly used, I believe “IT” and “ICT” are interchangeable in meaning, and I use “IT” with that understanding.
