Samuel D. Stearns is Professor Emeritus at the University of New Mexico. He has been involved in adjunct teaching and research at UNM since 1960.

His principal technical areas are DSP and adaptive signal processing. His most recent occupation is teaching these subjects at UNM and in industrial short courses, as well as consulting.

Previously, Dr. Stearns was a distinguished member of the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories. He retired in 1996 after 27 years at Sandia.
