Purpose and Approach

Most technical books tend to be tool centric and often take on a cookbook approach to describing how to use a specific tool. They show a lot of screenshots illustrating a click this then click that approach. That type of book has its place, but that isn’t the type of book that I wanted to write. I was after something that explained the concepts of Digital Forensics and how the pieces fit together. Kind of the don’t give someone a fish – rather – teach them how to fish approach. I was looking to write a book that wasn’t dependent on a version of software or a piece of technology.
