Apart from people, common photographic subjects include landscapes (urban and rural), action scenes and close-ups. Of these, the first is relatively straightforward, and any decent digital camera should take reasonable pictures of this type. A distinguishing feature of such pictures is that they feature lots of fine detail – blades of grass, tree branches, hard-edged buildings, etc. Because of this, a high pixel count with a low ISO setting and minimal image compression is best. A modicum of sharpening can work well here, and higher colour saturation may also be effective-if it is an available option.
