Introduction
Digital asset management products fall into many categories by application and by function. Some have been developed to manage documents, some images, and some for video content. The content-management products have been designed to explicitly handle the assets that are served from web sites. In general, most image or document-management products are not suited to the handling of audiovisual content. The products listed in this chapter have been specifically developed for the needs of broadcasters and postproduction, or any user with a large library of video and audio media, whether as physical media (tapes, disks) or as files.
