The Role of Standards in Cleaning and Contamination Control

Abstract
This chapter focuses on the rationale and utility of standards, the processes of writing and approval, and working with standards that are inconsistent or in conflict. Several organizations and groups involved in developing standards are highlighted. The information and ideas provided can be used for developing and revising standards and for improving the effectiveness in interpreting, utilizing, and managing standards. The utility of standards depends on the expertise of the people involved in developing those standards.
