The medical community actively seeks new technologies to enable them to provide better medical care. Tools such as the stethoscope, x-ray machine, microscope, and many more have enabled doctors to provide better patient care, medical research, and enhance and prolong life. While some tools have been specifically developed for medical uses, others that were not developed specifically for medicine are applied with positive results. Virtual reality applications for medical use are being developed and tested for a wide variety of tasks. While most applications are still in the development and testing phase, others have already been deployed for production use.
