By following the DLT approach so far, at this point you have identified the business and strategic challenges facing your organization, you have taken into account the leadership implications, and you have matched that information to a set of competencies needed to address the challenges. Your next step is to determine to what extent development is required.
This chapter focuses on three areas: (1) gap analysis (what competencies need development); (2) level of skill development (how skilled in a particular competency leaders should be); and (3) target population (candidates for development).
