Chapter 5. Designing Your Exchange 2007 Server
Your server design will be based on the Exchange server role and expected server workload. For example, a mailbox server will largely depend on the number of mailboxes it should support. A server with the Hub Transport (HT) role will be defined based on the number of mails sent and received in the environment, and possibly on journaling and content-scanning policies. The design for a server with the Client Access Server (CAS) role will depend on the protocols used by the clients and the access mode.
