INSIDE THE DESIGN OF OUR TEACHING AND RESEARCH
Our Experiment with our Teaching
In this chapter we discuss the design of the inquiry we conducted with our teaching in a pre-service teacher education program. We drew on the tradition of teacher research (Cochran-Smith & Lytle, 2001; Mohr, Rogers, Sanford, Nocerino, & Clawson, 2004; Rogers, Mosley, & Kramer, 2009) to pose problems, collect and analyze data, and refine our practices in the classroom where we were co-teacher researchers. As critical literacy teachers, we placed language in social contexts at the center of our pedagogy and thus drew on the tools of discourse analysis in both our teaching and research.
