The design theory we discussed so far exclusively focused on a situation in which a single decision maker needs to find a best possible decision among alternatives. A decision needed to be made by one decision maker to produce maximum payoffs in single or multiple attributes (or criteria) under a set of constraints. In many situations, however, the payoff of a decision made by an individual depends not only on what he or she does but also on the outcome of the decisions or choices that other individuals make.
