Chapter 4. Next Generation Multicast VPNs on Alcatel-Lucent (TiMOS)
This chapter explains the support Alcatel-Lucent has given to Next-Gen MVPN. Alcatel-Lucent has been supporting the Next-Gen MVPN solution based on the BGP control plane for quite some time, with some limitations on the support for the various BGP route types. For instance only autodiscovery i.e. Type 1 BGP routes are supported as of TiMOS early releases. Starting TiMOS release 8.0, TiMOS supports a complete implementation of the Next-Gen framework based on the BGP control plane.
