This section aims to present the data involved in this practice session. We rely on freely available data, called the Tokyo dataset. In the following part, we explain how to download and prepare this dataset in order to be ready for the practice session. Create a directory named tokyo on your file system. We will use this directory to store all the downloaded and generated data during the exercises.
The Tokyo dataset consists of one Sentinel-2 image and one rasterized OpenStreetMap1 (OSM) vector layer. It will be used for all exercises of Part II.
We use a Sentinel-2 image acquired over the Japan mainland, in the area of Tokyo (figure 4.1).
