A
access path
The method used by the database to access data (as determined by the database optimizer).
ACID
An acronym for atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability. Each of these four qualities is necessary for a transaction to be designed correctly.
active log
The instance of the database log that is currently in use.
Active Server Pages (ASP)
A Microsoft technology enabling programmers to develop custom code that works with Microsoft’s Internet Information Server (IIS).
ad hoc query
A query constructed and executed to answer an immediate and unanticipated question or need.
