Univariate Descriptive Statistics

Abstract

This chapter discusses the main concepts of univariate descriptive statistics. Through tables, charts, and/or summary measures, it is possible to describe the behavior of each type of variable. Frequency distribution tables represent the frequency in which a set of data occurs. Charts can be used to represent the distribution of the variable. Summary measures are subdivided into measures of position or location (central trend and quantiles), measures of dispersion or variability, and measures of shape (skewness and kurtosis).
