From its introduction after the initial release of Windows NT 4.0 in the first Enterprise Edition through Windows Server 2003, MSCS was often regarded as nonviable by mainstream IT implementers because of its complexity or because of a few deployment restrictions. But Windows Server 2008 delivered significant improvements in simplifying the deployment and manageability of Windows clusters, and things only get better in Windows Server 2008 R2.
