WHY DO WE NEED A BOOK ABOUT DANCE LIGHTING? OR, IF IT IS ALL DONE WITH THE SAME LIGHTS, WHY IS DANCE SO HARD TO GET RIGHT?
If you ask any lighting design teacher to recommend a good source of information about lighting, they will generally point to the same half dozen or so books. They do a good job covering the basics of lighting, and that is why so many teachers use them. The main drawback as far as I am concerned is that in virtually all of these books dance lighting is relegated to, at best, one chapter. I have been designing dance for many years but I never thought I was doing anything that unique.
