One of the things you may notice about this book is the absence of photographs. This was a deliberate choice on my part. I believe one of the barriers to better collaborations between lighting designers and choreographers is the absence of clear, jargon free, communication. If either party uses words that are not commonly understood they put their artistic partner at a disadvantage. On the other hand, when we can directly describe what we are looking for without relying on terminology, we level the playing field.
