Background
Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings co-founded Netflix in 1997. Headquartered in California, the company provides on-demand Internet streaming media and flat-rate DVD-by-mail services for movies and television.
The original business model was an online version of Blockbuster. You ordered a movie through its website, paid a one-time fee of $4 plus $2 in postage, and the DVD arrived in the mail.
