Evaluations are necessary in any class for comprehending what works for the students, for the instructor, and most importantly, what can be improved. There are many types of evaluations, and incorporating different types will help the instructor enhance their teaching, improve learning outcomes, improve retention rates, and allow students to increase accountability.
Formative Evaluations
Formative evaluations or formative assessments or formative feedback can be used to measure learning to provide feedback to the student or to the instructor. In the lens of the student, it helps them to see how well they are grasping the content and communicating their knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs), and improve their learning process. For a teacher it is essential to continue growing, improving, and evolving the course both through curriculum adaptation and course design, navigation, and delivery.
