Worldwide, it is reported that over one billion people have a disability. That’s one in six individuals. In the United States, a quarter of the population lives with a disability, and an even higher number experiences situational disabilities, which are temporary or situational circumstances that interfere with tasks.

Digital accessibility represents a set of practices that is meant to remove barriers for people with disabilities, thereby improving the experience for disabled users. Digital accessibility promotes inclusion and diversity, and it helps to ensure that everyone can access important services and information, such as education and training.

For all individuals to participate and contribute to a digital world (for education, business, and social purposes), all information needs to be accessible, which means perceivable, understandable, operable, and robust.
