Chapter 6. Database Workloads
Understanding the workload or workloads that run on your server is crucial to configuring it effectively and achieving optimal performance. A number of different workload types are well recognized; this chapter broadly defines the major workloads.
Many end-user environments have a mixture of workload types, sometimes coexisting on a single system. Also, some key activities, such as data extraction, transformation, and load, are not directly accounted for by any of the following characterizations.
