Interviewing the Complainant
Workplace investigations can be stressful to everyone, especially the individual who has made a complaint against another employee in the organization. It is important to put this person at ease from the outset by trying to make him or her as comfortable with the situation as possible. You don’t want the complainant to feel as if he or she is the guilty party, so do not immediately launch into the key points of the investigation. Instead, spend a few moments introducing yourself and explaining your role as the investigator.
