The method of optical trapping and manipulation of small neutral particles using lasers is based on the strength of radiation pressure. The light field is represented in the form of quanta called photons. Each photon carries a momentum equal to p = ħk, where k is the wave vector, |k| = k = 2π/λ, ħ - Planck’s constant.
