9.1 Introduction

There are several ways to improve the visualization of objects in three dimensions, the most commonly used techniques being wireframe, surface and solid modelling. Chapter 8 focused on wireframe and surface models, in which it was highlighted that, although these two techniques are quick to generate and view three-dimensional objects, they are not only limited to displaying the shapes, structure and surfaces of objects but sometimes errors occur resulting in incorrect representations.
