Abstract

There are four significant trends in digital television (DTV) and video technologies: home screens are getting larger, they have higher resolution with 4K displays as the norm and massive 8K screens as an emerging technology, and streaming video is fast supplanting broadcast content as the sheer amount of online content expands at dramatic rate. The fourth trend is that 20% of U.S. DTV viewers do not own a television set—they are watching on their mobile devices.
