4 . BEGINNING COLOR STUDIES
“I’ve handled color as a man should behave. You may conclude that I consider ethics and aesthetics as one.”
Josef Albers
THE COLOR WORKSHOP
This book is meant to function as a “workshop” in which one reads about color principles and then explores them through a sequence of small color studies. These studies are designed to fortify the text with a direct physical experience of color structure and interrelationships, and their effect on the eye and mind. While the book can simply be read as a general guide to color, its value will be most fully realized by those who take the time to do the color assignments.
