Foreword

Professor Pestoff is a founding member of global research communities both in the area of social enterprise and in the area of public administration. For three decades, these research communities have explored the link between efficient and effective public service provision, citizens’ active participation and even ownership in relation to the economy and democracy. Accordingly, Professor Pestoff is a pioneer when it comes to understanding the evolution of welfare pluralism based upon a convergence from previous static welfare regimes to one where welfare is allocated along lines that are more flexible.
