Chapter 12. Tools of the Trade
A number of instruments are available to you as the Network Operator that will help in the troubleshooting of network problems. Because many of the problems that companies encounter today are related to Internet connectivity, this chapter will cover some of the basic tools that can be used to pinpoint network problems. Some of these tools are useful on local network segments where there is no connectivity to the Internet.
In the last chapter we learned about troubleshooting techniques. Now it is time to learn about the tools that are most often used to troubleshoot problems in the Internet and on local IP networks.
