Tucked north of Stockholm, the city of Kista boasts low-rise facilities helping to define the European cutting-edge where inlets from the Baltic sea shape a land of technological suburbia and organic gardens. It’s Sweden’s Silicon Valley—where form and function coalesce into many of their products, including Ikonoskop’s A-Cam dII, an ergonomically sexy 16mm cinema camera. It’s the first to hit the market with the CinemaDNG open source format. No similar camera offers such a sleek design, with faint echoes (at least in size) of Sony’s 1990s VX1000. It has weight and feels substantial and elegant at the same time.
