I found myself on a plane to Japan once, sitting next to a man who was something big in the martial arts. He explained that he used to be a nightclub bouncer, and that he wanted to stop fights without getting hurt. It was only after his martial arts training began that he applied what he was learning there to situations in his workplace. He could see a fight brewing and take away the fuel that could make it start in the first place.
