1. As of 31 December 2008, China owns over US$ 700 billion or 18 per cent of foreign-held US treasuries. (Total foreign exchange reserves are as of 2008.) China accounts for 70–80 per cent of total US imports of toys, footwear and other low-end products, nearly 40 per cent of total apparel imports and 35 per cent of consumer electronics.
